Once upon a time...

This story has been handed down over the generations, from father to son and recalls the events that all began in the distant past of 1840..

The tale tells of a bear wandering the mountains of Cembra, in the North East of Italy, that was known because of the great amount of its victims - animals and people alike. One morning, as he usually did, our great-uncle was in the forest cutting down a tree, when suddenly he noticed the bear: he was approaching and looking to him. Desperately, he turned to escape and ran seeking refuge in a nearby barn, he slammed the door shut so hard, that he hit the snout of the bear, killing it instantly.

Thanks to this adventure, the hero is remembered for his courage by all the people of the village and nicknamed “Gagliardo”.

The Wine Cellar Il Gagliardo in our B&B is dedicated to our great-uncle and the setting reminds to his forests, to the wood fragrance, to the local products, like the good wine.

The intimate and welcoming atmosphere is ideal for wine lovers and also for all those, who want to taste together a good glass of wine with delicious appetizers.
